Dr. P.Z. Pearce, MD - President |
P.Z. Pearce, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine for the University of Washington, and Director of Champions Sports Medicine, in Spokane. He serves as National Team Physician for USA Triathlon, and is a past member of the U.S. Olympic Medical Committee. He is Medical Director of Ironman Coeur d’Alene, Arizona, Louisville (Kentucky), and Medical Coordinator of the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.
Dr. Pearce has over 20 years of experience in all aspects of athletic medicine. He is Team Physician for the Spokane Chiefs Hockey Club, Indians (Baseball) and Spiders (Soccer), also a member of the Seattle Seahawks medical staff. He has served at numerous events, including the 1984 / 1988 Olympic Cycling Trials, and the U.S. Medical Team for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta.
Dr. Pearce attended the University of Hawaii before receiving Bachelor’s degrees in Physiology and Psychology at the University of Washington. He also completed his M.D. at UW, and then moved to Spokane for Family Medicine Residency. Part of his post-graduate training includes studying at the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital in London, England. He is also co-chairman of the Sports Medicine Conference, held in conjunction with Ironman Hawaii each year.

Ben Greenfield, MS, CSCS, CPT, CISSN - Director
|
Ben Greenfield holds bachelor's and master's degrees in sports science and exercise physiology (University of Idaho), and is certified as a personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), a certified Serotta bicycle technician and an ISSN Sports Nutritionist. In 2008, Ben Greenfield was given the distinct honor of NSCA Personal Trainer of the Year, an award given to the top personal trainer in the nation. In college, Ben competed in tennis, water polo, and volleyball, and he has authored multiple books on metabolism, nutrition and fitness and is an expert in holistic wellness management.
With over 9 years experience in coaching professional, collegiate, and recreational athletes from all sports, Ben is the owner of Pacific Elite Fitness, an online multi-sport coaching and training service and also sits on the board of directors for Tri-Fusion triathlon team and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
As an Ironman and top ranked triathlete, Ben specializes in multi-sport training and nutrition, coaching, and program design. He is available as a private wellness coach or to speak at seminars and conferences. E-mail Ben at perform@champsportsmed.com.

Dr. Darron Woolley, DPM, AACFAS |

Darron Woolley, DPM is the staff’s foot and ankle specialist. He holds a bachelor’s degree with honors from Brigham Young University and earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Des Moines University: College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. He completed three years of surgical training in foot and ankle reconstruction at Kaiser Permanente: Santa Clara Medical Center in Santa Clara, CA. He is an Associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. In addition to full time practice in Spokane, Dr. Woolley works as volunteer faculty at Internal Medicine Residency Spokane.
Dr. Woolley improves lower extremity position, function and performance through use of dynamic gait analysis and custom orthotic therapy. Evaluation is thorough and treatment effective. When optimal recovery requires his surgical intervention, it is discussed in a frank, honest, and open manner.
Having raced in marathon and other distance events, Dr. Woolley brings understanding from personal experience and current activity. He lives in Spokane with his wife and three children, enjoys running, swimming, playing the guitar for his three biggest fans, and planning activities as the Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 412. Dr. Brian Mather, DC - Chiropractor |

Dr. Mather is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician®. He is the team chiropractor for the Spokane Chiefs Hockey Club. He has over 10 years of clinical experience treating high-school, college and professional athletes. Dr. Mather received his B.S. Degree and his D.C. from Western States Chiropractic College. He is nationally certified in Cox ® Decompression Therapy as well as Graston ® Instrument Soft Tissue Mobilization Technique. Dr. Mather served as chiropractor for the 2007 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

Stacey Trogdon, RD, CD - Dietitian
|
Stacey earned her undergraduate degree in dietetics from Western Washington University and completed a dietetic internship and graduate level courses at the University of Washington. Stacey is registered to practice as a dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency of the American Dietetic Association. Additionally, she is certified to practice as a dietitian by the state of Washington and is a member of the Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutritionists practice group of the American Dietetic Association.
Stacey has been practicing as a Registered Dietitian for over 10 years. She is the owner of Nutrition For Today, LLC where she specializes in sports nutrition and nutrition therapy for medical conditions including nutrition counseling for weight management in both adult and pediatric populations. Stacey has also practiced as a corporate wellness dietitian promoting wellness and disease prevention.

Dr. John Hammermeister |
| Dr. John Hammermeister is a Professor of Sport and Exercise Psychology at Eastern Washington University who has published over 100 scholarly works in the area of performance enhancement and leadership in sport. He is also the author of The Art and Science of Coaching Excellence, a textbook on leadership, coaching psychology, skills, and tactics. He is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and is one of a select few who holds the prestigious title of Certified Consultant from the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology.
Dr. Hammermeister has traveled extensively as a consultant to the U.S. Ski Team since 1997 and has been a member of the medical staff at both the 2002 (Salt Lake City) and 2006 (Torino, Italy) Olympic Games. He has an established track record of success working with many world class athletes and coaches, including several World and Olympic champions. Dr. Hammermeister’s academic research and applied consulting skills are recognized worldwide which allows his Champions Sports Medicine clients access to “cutting edge” sport and coaching psychology techniques and tools.
